Pharmaceutical Blending
Blending is a foundational service designed to ensure content uniformity and material homogeneity, acting as a critical preparatory step for both micronization and final Drug Product formulation. The primary technical objective of blending is to achieve a uniform distribution of the API within a carrier or excipient matrix, particularly when there are significant differences in concentration or physical characteristics between the components.
Our blending processes are engineered to overcome the challenges of poor flowability and the buildup of electrostatic charges often associated with micronized powders. By utilizing a planetary mixer, we can create uniform dry powder blends that are optimized for downstream processing with the mills. This is especially vital for BCS Class II compounds, where the consistent exposure of the API surface area is necessary to ensure predictable dissolution kinetics and bioavailability.
Mix&Mill Explained
Mix&Mill begins with blending, which is mixing the medicine and its "helper" ingredients until they are perfectly spread out. This ensures every dose contains the exact same amount of medicine. Our process uses special mixers to stop the powder from clumping or building up static electricity, which often happens with tiny particles. This makes the mixture much easier to handle during the shrinking process. It is especially important for medicines that struggle to dissolve; by mixing them thoroughly first, we ensure the body can absorb the medicine easily and effectively.
